Studio Policy and Fees
My mission is to inspire my students and to enhance their love for the instrument. I teach each student according to their specific goals and abilities. Learning to play the flute is difficult and can be frustrating, so I keep the environment low stress. Your child will learn to be persistent, to take constructive criticism, and to appreciate the beauty of the music they will create.
Performing is such an important part of music. The studio will put on two recitals a year for all studio members and parents and loved ones! Your child is encouraged to participate in these recitals, although it is not mandatory.
Parents
Your encouragement is vital to your child's success! While it is important that you monitor your child's practice session, it is very important not to push them if they do not feel like making music on a particular day.
Practice
Practice is crucial for your child to be successful. I do not believe in a set '30 minute practice session' every day. I will work with your child to determine what the best method for self-motivated practice at home will be.
Equipment
Your child will need a flute for their lessons. I can work with you to find the right flute for your child. I recommend that beginning flutists rent a flute, since sometimes this is only a phase! I will recommend books that your child will need to purchase and bring to each lesson.
Payment
Payment is due for each month at the beginning of the month. If your child can not make a lesson, please give me 24 hours notice so I can adjust my schedule accordingly. If you and your child forget to come to a lesson, you will still be responsible for the payment.
